About Me
Dr. Esther M. Bowie is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery at Penn State Health. She provides care for a range of retinal conditions, including retinal detachments, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. As a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, Dr. Bowie combines clinical practice with academic medicine.
Dr. Bowie completed her medical education at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, followed by an internship and residency in ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in retina and vitreous surgery at the University of Iowa. With expertise in vitreo-retinal surgery, she treats conditions affecting the retina and vitreous humor.
Dr. Bowie sees patients at the Penn State Health Eye Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where she focuses on providing comprehensive eye care for complex retinal diseases.
