About Me
Dr. Elizabeth A. Atchison is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for adults with a wide range of retinal and vitreous disorders. Patients appreciate her clear explanations, steady surgical skill, and the continuity of care that retina practice provides—from urgent evaluations through long-term follow-up. Raised in Sioux Falls, she is grateful to serve the community she calls home and sees patients in both the Sioux Falls and Yankton offices.
Dr. Atchison completed medical school at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship with Illinois Retina Associates and Rush University. She partners closely with referring optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide timely diagnosis, advanced treatment, and compassionate guidance tailored to each person’s needs. Whether managing diabetic retinopathy, treating retinal tears and detachments, or monitoring age-related macular degeneration, her goal is to protect vision with evidence-based care and thoughtful communication.
