Dr. Derek Barker

Dr. Derek L. Barker is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Columbia Eye in Columbia, South Carolina. He completed a medical retina fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and a surgical retina fellowship at Southern Vitreoretinal Associates, followed by residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an internship at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Barker is a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists and a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

He treats a wide range of retinal conditions, including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes.
