About Me

Dr. Chu specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases and ocular inflammatory conditions. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in managing complex inflammatory and immunologic disorders of the eye, including uveitis, scleritis, and ocular pemphigoid. At the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute, Dr. Chu provides comprehensive care for patients with cornea problems and difficult-to-treat ocular surface diseases.

Dr. Chu has extensive experience with both medical and surgical therapies for ocular inflammatory diseases. He employs chemotherapeutic agents when indicated and has a special interest in advanced surgical techniques. These include amniotic membrane transplantation and modern corneal transplantation procedures such as Intralase-enabled keratoplasty (IEK), Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK), and anterior partial thickness corneal transplantation.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chu is actively involved in clinical research evaluating new drugs and techniques for corneal and ocular inflammatory disorders. He serves as an associate team ophthalmologist for the New York Jets and holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School.
