Dr. Matthew Pieters is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Fraser Eye Care Center who specializes in anterior segment and cataract surgery. He provides patient-centered, evidence-based care, helping people understand their options and choose personalized treatment plans that fit their visual goals and lifestyle. In addition to surgical care, he offers comprehensive ophthalmology services and partners closely with the care team to ensure a smooth experience before and after surgery. Dr. Pieters graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis and earned his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital and an internship at St. Francis Hospital. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, he is proud to serve patients across metro Detroit with clear communication, attention to detail, and a calm, supportive bedside manner.

Dr. Sarah Jayne Garnai is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who enjoys caring for adults with both routine and complex eye concerns. She offers thorough eye exams, helps patients navigate blurry or fluctuating vision, and tailors treatment plans for conditions such as cataracts, astigmatism, and eyelid or ocular surface disease. Dr. Garnai values clear communication and shared decision-making—she takes time to explain test results, demonstrate how medications are used, and review what to expect before and after procedures. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan. In clinic, her goal is simple: to help people see comfortably and confidently so they can focus on the moments that matter at work, at home, and on the road.

Dr. Stefanie D. Sherman is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Oakland Eye Care who specializes in cataract surgery, including femtosecond laser–assisted techniques and advanced intraocular lens options. She helps patients choose among multifocal, extended depth-of-focus, accommodating, and toric lenses to match their visual needs, and she offers care for coexisting conditions such as astigmatism. Dr. Sherman also has special interests in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and functional and cosmetic eyelid procedures. A Michigan native, Dr. Sherman earned her BA at Washington University in St. Louis, completed medical school at the University of Michigan, and finished ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago. She practices evidence-based medicine and enjoys partnering with patients to set clear expectations before and after surgery. Outside the clinic, she is active in professional societies and advocates for patient access and safety.
