Dr. David Poulsen

Dr. David Poulsen is an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and intraocular lens procedures, adult eye exams, and lens-based refractive surgery. Originally from Half Moon Bay, California, he brings a compassionate approach to eye care, emphasizing thorough evaluations and personalized treatment plans. He completed his undergraduate studies in Humanities at Brigham Young University before earning his medical degree and a Master of Public Health concurrently from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health.

His clinical training includes an internship in internal medicine at UCSF Fresno and a residency in ophthalmology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Poulsen is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at OHSU School of Medicine. He is actively involved in professional societies such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

In his practice, Dr. Poulsen is known for his attentive listening and clear explanations, helping patients understand their conditions and options. He sees patients at OHSU Casey Eye Institute clinics in Hood River and The Dalles, Oregon. Outside of work, he enjoys running, playing the guitar, and kiteboarding with his three daughters.
