About Me
Dr. David Gerstenfeld received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital and a residency in ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein University Hospitals system. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
For 34 years, Dr. Gerstenfeld served as managing partner and owner of Island Eye Surgery Specialists in Staten Island, New York, where he performed thousands of cataract surgery procedures and trained residents at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Infirmary. Recently, he relocated to Bergen County, New Jersey, to join Metro Eye Care. In his current practice, he specializes in the evaluation and treatment of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye disease.
