About Me
David D. Gilbert, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides care for patients with glaucoma and cataracts at Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek, California. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and also performs cataract surgery and laser procedures. With over 17 years of experience, Dr. Gilbert offers comprehensive eye care for a range of conditions, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, dry eyes, and floaters.
Dr. Gilbert completed his medical degree at Wake Forest University, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency, serving as co-chief resident. He subsequently pursued subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma at Stanford University. He is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Gilbert has served as clinical faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, and as past chair of the Ophthalmology department at John Muir Medical Center. He also serves as a counselor for the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
