About Me
Dr. Anupama Anchala comes from a family of physicians and pursued an accelerated medical program directly out of high school. During medical school, she developed a deep appreciation for both the personal relationships in clinic and the precision of procedural medicine, which led her to ophthalmology. This specialty allows her to combine meaningful patient care with the artistry and attention to detail required for intricate eye surgery.
She grew up in the Midwest and completed most of her training in Chicago and Detroit. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in glaucoma at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, affiliated with Harvard University, where she received specialized instruction in complex surgical glaucoma. After training, she returned to Chicago and practiced for over a decade, gaining extensive experience in cataract surgery and both incisional and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures. Her professional interests focus on the comprehensive management of glaucoma, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and cataract surgery.
Dr. Anchala's approach to patient care centers on delivering up-to-date, evidence-based medicine while prioritizing clear communication and shared decision-making. She believes it is essential for patients to understand their diagnosis and the full range of treatment options. By encouraging informed discussions, she partners with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that align with their medical needs and lifestyle.
