About Me
Daniel D. Hayes, MD is a glaucoma and cataract specialist practicing in Long Island. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. He completed his internal medicine internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and ophthalmology residency at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, serving as chief resident. Dr. Hayes then pursued a glaucoma fellowship at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary with Glaucoma Associates of New York.
Dr. Hayes holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where he trains residents and was honored as Teacher of the Year for surgical teaching in 2017. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and actively participates in professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society.
His clinical expertise centers on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, employing both traditional and minimally invasive techniques. He is also skilled in advanced cataract surgery options such as femtosecond laser-assisted procedures and premium intraocular lenses like toric and multifocal lenses to enhance patient vision.
