About Me

Dr. Benjamin W. Roberts is a vitreoretinal surgeon who has been serving patients at Retina Consultants of Alabama since 2005. He completed his fellowship training at the same practice and then began preparing for missionary service. In 2006, Dr. Roberts and his family moved to Bomet, Kenya, where he provided sight-restoring surgeries and treatment for eye diseases at Tenwek Hospital, one of the largest mission hospitals in Kenya.

For nearly 20 years, Dr. Roberts and his family lived in Kenya, where he not only treated patients but also shared his faith. He and his wife, Jenny, along with their three children, embraced the motto "Sharing the Light, Restoring Vision." Dr. Roberts also mentored interns and traveled to remote areas in East Africa to provide eye care.

As of September 2024, Dr. Roberts has returned to Alabama to resume his practice at Retina Consultants of Alabama. His extensive experience in treating complex retinal diseases, combined with his compassionate approach to patient care, makes him a valuable resource for those with conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachments.
