About Me
Dr. John O. Mason, III is a vitreoretinal surgeon and ophthalmologist who serves as Vice President of Retina Consultants of Alabama, P.C. in Birmingham. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology, where he additionally holds the role of Director of Retina Service.
He is Program Director for the Retina Consultants of Alabama Milton F. White, Jr., Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program. Dr. Mason's research includes publishing numerous manuscripts, participating in clinical trials, and presenting at national and international ophthalmology meetings.
Dr. Mason is committed to humanitarian service, participating in the FOR Nicaragua Health Mission since 2004, addressing barriers to eye care for older African Americans, and supporting the Diabetic Eye Clinic of Alabama.
