About Me
Dr. Basil Mathews is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who has called Oklahoma City home since moving there during early childhood. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language-Spanish, graduating summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with University Honors. He then pursued his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Dr. Mathews completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina’s Kittner Eye Center and a prestigious glaucoma fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center. His expertise lies in employing advanced imaging techniques for the early detection of glaucoma and utilizing evidence-based medicine to provide precise and effective treatments. He performs cataract surgery, including premium upgrades, and offers a full scope of glaucoma management from laser procedures to minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and filtering procedures for advanced disease. He is committed to delivering comprehensive eye care that prioritizes quality, efficiency, and individual patient consideration.
