Meet Dr. Baochan Nguyen
About Me
Dr. Baochan "Chan" Nguyen is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who provides a full spectrum of eye care. She grew up in Oklahoma and was a National Merit Scholar. Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree and a doctorate in Neuroscience from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2009. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of California Los Angeles Jules Stein Eye Institute. Following residency, she returned to UT Southwestern as an Assistant Professor, where she served as Medical Director of the Parkland Hospital Eye Clinic and Associate Residency Program Director for the ophthalmology training program.
Dr. Nguyen is trained to diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions, including cataract, pterygia, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She utilizes medications, laser treatments, and surgical interventions to provide comprehensive care. With extensive experience in cataract surgery, Dr. Nguyen is skilled in advanced techniques such as astigmatism correction, femtosecond laser assisted procedures, and the use of premium intraocular lenses. She has trained over 40 resident physicians and proctored them through hundreds of cataract surgeries.
Dr. Nguyen chose ophthalmology because she wanted to make a significant impact on people's lives. She values the opportunity to meet and talk with her patients, applying her years of education and training to improve their vision and eye health.
