Meet Dr. Austin Strohbehn
About Me
Dr. Austin L. Strohbehn is a board-certified, fellowship-trained retina specialist who provides medical and surgical care for diseases that affect the retina and macula. He treats conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal tears or detachment, with the goal of preserving vision and helping patients stay active and independent.
A native Iowan, Dr. Strohbehn earned a B.S. in Biology from Iowa State University and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. After completing an internship at the University of Missouri, he finished ophthalmology residency at the Mason Eye Institute at the University of Missouri, serving as chief resident, and then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the same institution. He enjoys applying modern techniques to retinal care and is committed to clear communication so patients understand their diagnosis, options, and follow-up plan.
