About Me
Dr. Arley G. Jaramillo is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive experience in complex retinal conditions. He specializes in macular hole repair, retinal detachment repair, and membrane removals, bringing a high level of skill and compassion to his patients. His clinical work includes managing trauma and referred complications, and he is dedicated to serving veterans through the Veterans Administration.
Dr. Jaramillo is a collaborating researcher at the CLEVER Eye Institute and the Louisiana Eye Research Institute, contributing to advancements in retinal care. He holds staff positions at the Veterans Hospital in New Orleans and Tulane Medical Center, and he serves as Assistant Chief of Ophthalmology for the Southeast Veteran’s Health Care System. Additionally, he is an Assistant Professor in Tulane’s Ophthalmology Department, where he is involved in training the next generation of eye specialists.
Fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal disease and surgery, Dr. Jaramillo completed his ophthalmology residency at Tulane, where he was Chief Resident and received the Tulane Eye Alumni Association Award. His surgical training included over 300 procedures, such as pars plana vitrectomies, scleral buckles, and complex combined cases. Patients can expect comprehensive, state-of-the-art retinal care from Dr. Jaramillo and his team.
