Dr. Arjun Merchant is a vitreoretinal surgeon in training at Washington University in St. Louis, serving as a Retina Fellow (2024-2026). He studied neuroscience at UT Austin, earned his medical degree from UT Health Houston, and completed ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center. At WashU Medicine's John F. Hardesty Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, Dr. Merchant cares for patients with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, and other complex retinal conditions. His fellowship provides intensive experience in medical retina, retinal imaging, and vitreoretinal surgery within a multidisciplinary team. Patients appreciate his calm, thorough manner and his focus on combining state-of-the-art diagnostics, evidence-based treatments, and clear communication to protect and restore vision.
