About Me
Dr. Apurva Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist who provides comprehensive care for retinal diseases. He grew up in New York City and New Jersey before moving to Boston to attend Harvard College for his undergraduate education in biophysics and Harvard Medical School for his medical degree.
He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Patel then returned to a faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded the Resident Surgical Teaching award. He joined Retina Northwest in 2014 and serves as Chair of Ophthalmology at Providence St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
His clinical expertise includes surgical management of diabetic tractional detachments, diabetic macular edema, and uveitis. He is dedicated to patient-centered care, listening to each patient, explaining treatment options, and creating personalized care plans. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking and outdoor activities with his family in the Pacific Northwest.
