He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Patel then returned to a faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded the Resident Surgical Teaching award. He joined Retina Northwest in 2014 and serves as Chair of Ophthalmology at Providence St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

His clinical expertise includes surgical management of diabetic tractional detachments, diabetic macular edema, and uveitis.
