Dr. Andres Cortes

Dr. Andres Cortes is a glaucoma specialist with subspecialty training in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, earned his medical degree from Yale University, and returned to Stanford for his ophthalmology residency. Dr. Cortes then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Cortes’s clinical interests focus on surgical treatments for glaucoma, including modern laser procedures, filter surgery, glaucoma drainage implants, and advanced minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) techniques such as endocyclo-laser photocoagulation, the Glaukos trabecular micro-bypass stent, and the ExPress shunt. He has provided compassionate care to the South Florida community for nearly 20 years and is fluent in Spanish.
