About Me

Dr. Amro Omari is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon at Retina Specialists of Michigan. He manages the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina care, from diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration to emergent retinal detachments. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, attention to detail in surgery, and coordination with their primary and diabetes care teams. After undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, Dr. Omari earned his MD at the University of Michigan Medical School and completed ophthalmology residency at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. He then pursued vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute/University of Pennsylvania, where he trained in advanced techniques including complex retinal repairs and subretinal injections for gene therapy. His background includes a research fellowship at the Kellogg Eye Center, where he received the Robert Goldsmith Award, and he was honored with a Fellowship Excellence Award at Scheie for his commitment to teaching and clinical excellence. Outside the clinic, he enjoys soccer, pickleball, travel, and time with family and friends.
