About Me
Dr. Thomas Aaberg is a board-certified ophthalmologist with extensive specialization in retinal diseases and ocular tumors. He completed his medical education at the University of Wisconsin and advanced training through residency, vitreoretinal surgical fellowship, and chief residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Further honing his expertise, he undertook an ocular oncology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
After his training, Dr. Aaberg held leadership roles including Director of the Ocular Oncology Unit at Emory University and served as the Retina Service Director at the Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital. He has been an investigator in numerous clinical trials, authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, and contributes to medical education as an adjunct clinical professor at Michigan State University.
Dr. Aaberg is actively investigating new therapies for conditions such as ocular melanoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. He is a dedicated member of several professional societies and continues to advance vitreoretinal surgical techniques, providing comprehensive care for patients with complex retinal disorders.
