About Me

Dr. Alp Atik is a dual-fellowship trained cataract and glaucoma specialist serving as the Head of the Glaucoma Unit at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He brings advanced expertise in managing complex cataract and glaucoma cases, having completed specialized training in both Australia and the United States.

His medical education began at the University of Newcastle, where he graduated with Distinction and First-Class Honours. He then pursued a Master of Medicine at the University of Sydney and a Master of Public Health in Decision Science at Harvard University. His clinical training includes a glaucoma fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and a second glaucoma fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he managed some of the most challenging cases worldwide.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Atik is affiliated with the Centre for Eye Research Australia, where he conducts research on the health economics of glaucoma treatment to ensure patients receive the best care available. His commitment to advancing the field is reflected in numerous awards and scholarships, recognizing his contributions to ophthalmology and glaucoma research.
