Dr. Jayant Iyer

Dr. Jayant V. Iyer is a Senior Consultant and Medical Director at The Straits Eye Centre, based at Camden Medical Centre. He specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology for conditions including cataracts, dry eyes, refractive errors, and diabetic retinopathy, with added subspecialist expertise in glaucoma. He is fellowship-trained at Johns Hopkins in the United States.

Dr. Iyer formerly served as Senior Consultant Glaucoma surgeon at The Singapore National Eye Centre, where he was Head of its Clinical & Service Quality department and Lead for its Global Ophthalmology office. He founded and runs The Vision Mission, an NGO dedicated to alleviating treatable blindness in Asia and beyond. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to ophthalmology and patient care, including the APAO Distinguished Service Award, the Novartis eXcellence in Vision Award, and the Singapore Courage Fund Healthcare Humanity Award.

He is passionate about community eye care and believes in strong partnerships with primary care providers, emphasizing that early disease detection is key to preserving patient health and good sight.
