Meet Dr. Alison Smith
About Me
Dr. Alison Smith is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Clemson Eye in Greenville, South Carolina. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and then pursued a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Smith previously practiced at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and has held academic appointments at Texas Tech University and the USC School of Medicine in Greenville, where she taught and mentored the next generation of eye care providers.
Her clinical focus includes the diagnosis and treatment of strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity, two conditions that can significantly impact a child's vision if not addressed early. Dr. Smith is a strong advocate for early intervention and has conducted research on pediatric eye diseases to improve outcomes for young patients. She is also dedicated to expanding access to eye care, having volunteered on medical mission trips to Mexico and advocated for the uninsured.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Smith is an accomplished equestrienne and a mother of two sons. She believes in a compassionate, patient-centered approach to pediatric eye care and works to ensure that each child receives the attention and treatment they need for healthy visual development.
