Dr. Adam Carrera

Dr. Adam L. Carrera is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who cares for a wide range of medical and surgical eye conditions with a clear, patient-first approach. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he returned to East Tennessee after his service to complete his B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology at King University and earned his M.D. from East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He then completed a transitional internship at Methodist University Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at the Hamilton Eye Institute, University of Tennessee in Memphis.

At Baptist Eye Surgeons, Dr. Carrera helps patients understand their diagnoses and options, offering treatments that span routine and complex care—from cataracts and refractive surgery to glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. He enjoys building long-term relationships and explaining each step in plain language so patients feel confident about their vision care.
