About Me
Dr. Ziad El Husseini is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his medical degree at the American University of Beirut in 1986, followed by an internship and residency in ophthalmology at the same institution. He further specialized with a glaucoma fellowship at the Kentucky Lions Research Institute in 1991 and an oculoplastic surgery fellowship at UT Southwestern in 1996.
His clinical expertise includes the management of cataracts, corneal conditions, glaucoma, and oculoplastic disorders. Dr. Husseini's research interests focus on these areas, particularly in ocular immunology and contact lenses, for which he received the US Allergan/Fisons Award in 1994. He is recognized for his academic achievements, including the Penrose Award for scholarship and leadership.
Dr. Husseini is an active member of professional organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. This involvement supports his commitment to providing comprehensive and up-to-date eye care to his patients.
