About Me

Dr. Wei Wang is an ophthalmologist-scientist and associate professor at the University of Louisville, where she cares for patients with medical and surgical retina conditions as well as uveitis. Her patient care is informed by extensive translational research aimed at rescuing photoreceptors in retinal degeneration, including work in cell-based therapies, gene therapy, and retinal prostheses.

Dr. Wang completed ophthalmology residency at Shandong Eye Institute & Hospital and later a Clinical Vitreoretinal & Uveitis fellowship at the University of Louisville. She earned her M.D. from Shandong Medical University and an M.S. from the Shandong Academy of Medical Science, followed by an M.D., Ph.D. at Qingdao University School of Medicine.
