About Me
Dr. Waseem Ansari is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He trained under world-renowned leaders at the Cleveland Clinic and the Retina Institute of St. Louis to specialize in the treatment of the retina and vitreous. His areas of interest include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, surgical management of macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vascular disease, and uveitis.
Dr. Ansari has participated in clinical trials, published numerous journal articles, and presented at multiple national conferences. He holds an academic appointment as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also maintains hospital appointments at Methodist Children's Hospital, Methodist Specialty & Transplant, and Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital.
Dr. Ansari completed his bachelor's at Austin College with a double major in biochemistry and mathematics. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston, completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute in Ohio, and trained in a vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the Retina Institute of St. Louis, one of the premier programs in the country. He lives in San Antonio with his family.
