Meet Dr. Richard Gary Lane

Dr. Gary Lane is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina. He has been caring for patients in San Antonio at Retina Consultants of Texas since 2009. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lane volunteers at the ICSA charity eye clinic at Haven for Hope.

Dr. Lane completed his medical degree with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine and underwent ophthalmology residency training at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio. He then completed a two-year fellowship in retina at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He has authored numerous scientific papers and participated in over 50 clinical research trials, with research interests that include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and intrascleral IOL fixation.

Dr. Lane is fluent in Spanish and teaches ophthalmology in Central and South America and Africa. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
