About Me
Dr. Vanee V. Virasch is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical care of corneal conditions, refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplants, and complex anterior segment reconstruction. She serves as an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician at Rush University Medical Center, where she also holds the role of Section Director of Cornea and External Disease.
A Chicago native, Dr. Virasch completed her undergraduate degree with honors in biomedical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis and earned her medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She then completed her internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center, serving as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Virasch is an active member of several professional societies, including the Chicago Ophthalmological Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has dedicated over 15 years to teaching residents and medical students, earning multiple Golden Apple Awards for Surgical Education. She has also presented and published research, co-authored textbook chapters, and serves as a course instructor and Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
