Dr. Tina Rutar

Dr. Tina Rutar is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology. She has over 15 years of experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions in both children and adults. Her expertise includes amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes), cataracts, congenital eye malformations, eyelid ptosis, and nasolacrimal duct obstruction. She is recognized as the only strabismus specialist in Southern Oregon, and her practice at the Cataract & Laser Institute involves treating thousands of patients with eye muscle disorders.

Dr. Rutar earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency at the University of California San Francisco, followed by a fellowship at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. Prior to joining the Institute, she served as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at UCSF. She is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rutar is fluent in English, Slovenian, Spanish, and German, allowing her to provide care to a diverse patient population.
