About Me
Dr. Tanuj P. Banker is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the retina as well as ocular oncology. He graduated with honors from Georgetown University, earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and served as Chief Resident during ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University Hospital. He completed advanced surgical retina training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he gained extensive experience with complex retinal detachments, macular surgery, and trauma.Dr. Banker offers individualized care for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinal vein occlusions, and selected intraocular tumors. He is active in research and education, has presented at national and international meetings, and has been recognized with honors including a Retina Society Advocacy Ambassador designation, an NEI research travel grant, and the ASCRS Resident Excellence Award. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, meticulous surgical technique, and warm bedside manner.
