About Me
Dr. Steven M. Shields is an ophthalmologist specializing in the surgical management of glaucoma. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Shields serves as Chief of Ophthalmology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine, where he teaches ophthalmic surgery to residents.
Dr. Shields completed his undergraduate studies and medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He performed his internship at Jewish Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at Washington University School of Medicine. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. In recognition of his volunteer service, Dr. Shields received the Ben Goldfeller Volunteer Service Award from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2016.
