About Me
Dr. Stephen C. Gieser is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist at Wheaton Eye Clinic. He focuses on the medical and laser treatment of glaucoma, a condition characterized by progressive damage to the optic nerve. Dr. Gieser provides care for patients with various forms of glaucoma, helping to manage intraocular pressure and preserve vision.
Dr. Gieser earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University. He also holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, reflecting his interest in blindness prevention. His subspecialty training included a two-year glaucoma fellowship at the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Gieser has lectured at numerous national and international ophthalmology meetings and has contributed to scientific literature, including textbook chapters. In 1991, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study eye diseases in India.
