About Me
Dr. Spencer F. Maddox is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing at the Eye Center of Central Georgia since 1993. A native of Macon, he earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate internship and residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology, and further specialized with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Atlanta's Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.
Dr. Maddox is the only pediatric ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained adult strabismus surgeon in Middle and South Georgia, addressing conditions like strabismus where the eyes are misaligned. He is bilingual in Spanish, facilitating care for Spanish-speaking patients. With experience in refractive surgery since 1993, he offers vision correction procedures and also performs cataract surgery at the eye center's onsite surgery facility, providing comprehensive care for refractive, adult strabismus, pediatric, and cataract-related issues.
