About Me
Dr. Sonia Rana is a board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma and cataract surgeon at the Glaucoma Center of Michigan. She completed medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit, followed by an intern year at Crittenton Hospital (now Henry Ford Rochester). Dr. Rana then completed her ophthalmology residency at Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute at Detroit Medical Center, where she was elected Chief Resident, and remained at Kresge to complete a Glaucoma and Complex Cataract Fellowship.
Her expertise includes complex glaucoma surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma procedures (MIGS), and small-incisional cataract surgery with traditional, toric, and extended range of focus intraocular lenses. She also performs laser procedures to treat glaucoma, cataracts, and secondary cataracts. Dr. Rana has received the Dong H. Shin Outstanding Ophthalmology Research Award and the Allen Prize for glaucoma research.
