Dr. Sonia Kern

Dr. Sonia Kern is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and cornea specialist who provides quality, compassionate eye care to patients in the Rockland County area. She was raised in Northern New Jersey and completed her undergraduate education at The College of New Jersey before graduating from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School as part of an accelerated seven-year BS/MD program.

Dr. Kern completed an internal medicine internship at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester and then underwent ophthalmology residency training at New York University. She further specialized with a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

She joined Ramapo Ophthalmology Associates in the summer of 2014 and performs a wide range of ophthalmologic procedures, including cataract surgery, refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK), pterygium surgery, corneal collagen crosslinking, and corneal transplant surgery. Dr. Kern is licensed in New Jersey and New York and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society.
