About Me
Dr. Sinthu Ranjan is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist at the University of North Carolina Department of Ophthalmology. She cares for patients with the full range of corneal and anterior segment conditions and offers both routine and complex cataract surgery. Dr. Ranjan has particular expertise in corneal transplantation—including PK, DSEK, and DMEK—along with intraocular lens exchange and other complex anterior segment procedures. She also evaluates and treats dry eye disease and provides thoughtful, individualized surgical planning focused on safety, vision quality, and long-term outcomes.
Before joining UNC, Dr. Ranjan completed ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Medical Center and a Cornea and External Disease fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in New York. Her academic interests include quality improvement in corneal transplantation and the care of infectious keratitis. Patients value her clear communication, attention to detail, and collaborative approach to decision-making so they understand their diagnosis and feel confident about next steps.
