About Me
Dr. Bonnie Sklar is a cornea and external disease specialist with the UNC Department of Ophthalmology. She joined the department’s clinical faculty after completing a Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at Duke Eye Center, where she received advanced training in medical and surgical management of complex corneal and ocular surface disorders. Before fellowship, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the Wills Eye Hospital / Jefferson School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology in Philadelphia, gaining broad experience in caring for patients with both routine and advanced eye disease.
At UNC, Dr. Sklar cares for patients with corneal, cataract, and external eye conditions at the UNC Kittner Eye Center and the UNC Ophthalmology Holly Springs office, and performs surgery at UNC Hospitals Hillsborough campus and UNC Holly Springs Hospital operating rooms. Her clinical interests include injuries, allergies, inflammation, dry eye disease, corneal dystrophies, and other disorders that affect the transparent front surface of the eye, as well as complex anterior segment reconstruction, modern keratoplasty techniques, corneal implants, and ocular surface surgery. She is committed to providing thoughtful, patient-centered care, explaining diagnoses and treatment options in clear language and working closely with each patient to protect comfort, vision, and long-term eye health.
