About Me
Dr. Shil K. Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializing in retinal care at North Carolina Retina Associates. He earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Patel further advanced his expertise with a vitreoretinal fellowship at Associated Retina Consultants in Phoenix, Arizona.
His commitment to retinal research is evidenced by his receipt of the Milton Boniuk Research Grant in 2008 for studies on intravitreal medication safety. Dr. Patel has presented his findings on topics such as Nepafenac and Cystoid Macular Edema at the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. Fluent in Spanish and Gujarati, he effectively communicates with diverse patient populations in Eastern North Carolina.
