Dr. Sharon Sabapathypillai

Dr. Sharon Sabapathypillai is a glaucoma specialist and clinician–investigator who provides medical, laser, and surgical care for patients with open-angle, angle-closure, and secondary glaucomas. She takes a collaborative, education-forward approach so patients understand their disease course, target pressures, and why therapies are chosen. Her goal is to protect vision while minimizing treatment burden and preserving quality of life.

Dr. Sabapathypillai completed a combined BA/MD program at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, earned an MS in Clinical Investigation at Washington University in St. Louis, and served an internal medicine internship at WashU. She is the Glaucoma Fellow at Washington University (2025–2027), where she participates in resident education and glaucoma research. Patients value her warm communication style and her attention to detail in setting individualized care plans.
