About Me

Dr. Shamim A. Haji is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina and vitreoretinal surgeon. He is fellowship trained in diseases of the retina with an emphasis on vitreoretinal care, and he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cornea, refractive surgery, and clinical glaucoma. At Newsom Eye, Dr. Haji provides patients with advanced technology for both medical and surgical eye care. He has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed research and has published work on topics including retinal imaging and intravitreal injection safety. His training includes a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine (Jacksonville), an ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine, a fellowship in research medicine at Mount Sinai School of New York, and medical school at Government Medical College, Kashmir University. He cares for patients with a range of retinal conditions, including macular disease, diabetic eye disease, flashes and floaters, and retinal detachment.
