About Me
Dr. Shagun K. Bhatia is a pediatric ophthalmologist and Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Rady Children’s Health. She cares for infants, children, and adolescents with vision problems ranging from strabismus and amblyopia to pediatric cataracts and complex corneal disease. She also treats select adult conditions, including adult strabismus, and partners closely with families to build care plans that fit each child’s needs and activities.
Dr. Bhatia completed fellowship training at the Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego after ophthalmology residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. Her academic work spans pediatric cornea and strabismus, and she has received research support and recognitions including awards from the National Institutes of Health/Atlanta Clinical and Translational Science Institute and Research to Prevent Blindness. Dr. Bhatia welcomes new patients and coordinates care across multiple clinic locations in San Diego County.
