Dr. Sara Francomacaro

Dr. Sara Francomacaro, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist at Rutzen Eye Specialists. She provides comprehensive glaucoma care and performs cataract surgery ranging from routine to complex cases. Her goal is to protect, preserve, and restore vision through individualized plans that fit each patient’s life, whether that means optimizing drops, offering minimally invasive procedures, or discussing traditional surgical options.

Dr. Francomacaro graduated summa cum laude from Bucknell University with a BS in Neuroscience and earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed ophthalmology residency (chief resident) at the University of Maryland Medical Center and a glaucoma fellowship through the University of Maryland Medical Center and Howard University. Recognized for academic excellence and compassionate patient care, she continues to present on glaucoma and advances her skills through ongoing conferences and seminars.
