Dr. Ryan Smith

Dr. Ryan Smith is an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He completed his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida and a surgical glaucoma fellowship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Dr. Smith chose ophthalmology for the variety of medical and surgical procedures that preserve and improve vision, and he values building long-term relationships with his patients.

His clinical interests focus on the surgical management of glaucoma, including traditional filtration surgery, glaucoma shunt implants, and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures that can be combined with cataract surgery. He also has expertise in complex, high-risk cataract surgery and is experienced in the latest cataract implant options to correct astigmatism and presbyopia. During his training, he was elected to the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and selected for the Gold Humanism Honors Society.

Dr. Smith is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Glaucoma Society. He is committed to providing patient-centered care with the latest techniques and technology.
