About Me
Ruben Jauregui, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in optic neuropathies, ocular motor abnormalities, and genetic neuro-ophthalmologic diseases.
Dr. Jauregui earned his medical degree with honors in research at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He completed a residency in neurology, serving as Chief Resident, and received advanced training through a neuro-ophthalmology clinical fellowship, both at NYU Langone Health. Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.
Dr. Jauregui’s research interests include optic neuropathies and eye movements, especially genetic disorders that affect the sensory and motor systems. He has delivered presentations at national conferences and published more than 35 academic articles related to his areas of expertise. When he’s not at work, Dr. Jauregui enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, and expanding his culinary experiences.
