About Me
Dr. Robert Johnson is a board-certified ophthalmologist who sees patients at WhidbeyHealth Eye Care & Surgery in Oak Harbor and Freeland, Washington. He treats a wide range of eye conditions including glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, and specializes in refractive and cataract surgery using advanced techniques such as laser-assisted and dropless cataract surgery.
Dr. Johnson is a retired U.S. Navy officer who previously served as a nuclear submarine engineer. After completing his residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and an internship at National Naval Medical Center, he practiced in New York before returning to Whidbey Island in 2011, where he founded Island Eye Care. In 2025, Island Eye Care joined WhidbeyHealth to become WhidbeyHealth Eye Care & Surgery. Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
