About Me
Dr. Robert I. Park is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous at Carolina Ophthalmology in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1996, completed his ophthalmology residency at New York University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident, and pursued a two-year fellowship in retina and vitreous surgery at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and Tufts University. Dr. Park most recently served as the Director of Vitreoretinal Surgery Service at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Dr. Park has a special interest in the causes and treatments of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion. He has been a principal investigator in numerous clinical research trials studying new treatments for these conditions, including pivotal trials of Lucentis for macular degeneration. Dr. Park often employs combination therapies using drugs and lasers to achieve optimal outcomes for his patients with age-related macular degeneration.
