About Me
Dr. Robert Howard is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK surgery, glaucoma care, and comprehensive medical ophthalmology. He is a highly experienced refractive surgeon who has performed countless LASIK and other vision correction procedures. Dr. Howard is dedicated to providing advanced surgical and medical eye care to his patients.
Before joining St. Luke’s, Dr. Howard served eight years in the U.S. Army, most recently as Chief of Ophthalmology at Fort Meade in Maryland. He also served as Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at Fort Riley, Kansas, and completed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Howard completed his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine and his undergraduate studies in Economics at Middlebury College. He has volunteered on humanitarian missions in Honduras, performing cataract, pterygium, and strabismus surgeries.
Dr. Howard has personally undergone LASIK surgery, which gives him a unique patient’s perspective on the procedure. He is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, baseball, skiing, and hiking.
