Dr. Robert Prinzi

Dr. Adam E. Pflugrath is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients across the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions. He enjoys helping individuals of all ages—from newborns to older adults—navigate complex diagnoses with clear explanations and evidence-based treatment plans. Patients appreciate his calm, collaborative style and his focus on restoring and protecting sight through the least disruptive options possible. After residency training and service as chief resident at VCU Health, Dr. Pflugrath completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Charles Retina Institute. He now practices in Greenville, where he combines advanced imaging, laser therapies, and microincisional techniques to treat retinal tears, detachments, macular diseases, and diabetic eye disease. Outside the operating room, he values Greenville’s mix of outdoor spaces and city life and can often be found hiking, biking, or kayaking with his family. His goal at every visit is simple: meet patients where they are, explain the “why” behind each option, and partner on a plan that preserves vision and quality of life.

Dr. Krishi Peddada is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery. He provides full-scope medical and surgical retina care, from urgent retinal detachment repairs to ongoing management of diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration. Dr. Peddada earned a BS in Biomedical Engineering and his MD at Saint Louis University, where his senior project led to a U.S. patent for a foreign-body location and retrieval device. He completed ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore followed by a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia. In addition to clinical care, he has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and participated in trials such as OAKS and DERBY that helped usher the first FDA-approved therapy for geographic atrophy. He practices at Clemson Eye locations in Simpsonville and Greenville and is building clinical trial offerings to bring emerging retina treatments closer to patients.

Dr. Mauricio Bastos Pereira, MD, PhD is a vitreoretinal surgery sub-subspecialist who cares for the full spectrum of retina and vitreous disease. Trained in Brazil at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), he has performed thousands of eye surgeries and is recognized for advancing blindness prevention and retina care through extensive clinical work, teaching, and research. His academic career includes service as faculty and mentor to hundreds of ophthalmologists, peer-review for noted journals, and award-winning investigations into retinal adhesion and advanced imaging, including indocyanine green video angiography for blunt traumatic chorioretinopathy. At MUSC Health’s Storm Eye Institute, Dr. Pereira focuses on surgical and medical management of complex retinal disorders, complications after cataract surgery, and macular disease. Patients appreciate his meticulous approach, deep experience, and commitment to clear communication and collaborative decision-making at every step of care.
